Incorporating Seafood into Your Easter Menu

by | Feb 10, 2023

The spring season is a perfect time to bring the flavours of the seaside to your table. Whether you’re looking for an alternative to the traditional Easter ham or simply want to add some variety to your meal, incorporating seafood dishes into your Easter dinner menu is sure to impress.

Let’s explore some delicious seafood-based recipes that will be sure to please everyone in the family.

Seafood Pesto Pasta Salad

This dish is perfect for a hot afternoon gathering with family and friends. All you need are cooked fusilli noodles, cherry tomatoes, canned tuna (or any other type of canned fish), and pesto sauce.

Simply mix together all of the ingredients and let chill in the fridge until serving time. For an extra kick, add a few tablespoons of capers or olives into the mix as well!

Seafood Paella

This Spanish-inspired dish consists of flavorful seafood broth, saffron and onion cooked with either shrimp or mussels, or a combination of both. The seafood is then combined with long-grain rice, tomato puree, smoked paprika and sautéed vegetables such as garlic, peppers and mushrooms.

Throw in some pineapple juice and peas for an extra hit of flavour and nutrition, and finish the dish off by topping it with your favourite seafood or grilled vegetables. Serve it hot alongside crusty bread or salad to make a delicious seafood meal that is perfect for celebrating the Easter holiday!

Fish Tacos with Avocado Cream Sauce

For a twist on a classic Mexican dish, try making these fish tacos! Start by cooking up some white fish fillets in butter and garlic until golden brown then set aside. In a separate bowl, make an avocado cream sauce by combining mashed avocados with Greek yogurt, lime juice, and cilantro then season with cumin and salt to taste.

To assemble each taco, place some fish onto a warm tortilla shell then top with shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes and onion, and finally drizzle over some of that creamy avocado sauce for an unbeatable flavour combination.

Grilled Salmon Burgers

For those who prefer something hearty over light bites or salads, salmon burgers are just the way to go! Start by combining cooked salmon with breadcrumbs, chopped red peppers and onions, lemon zest and juice from one lemon, Dijon mustard, salt & pepper in a large bowl before forming them into patties.

Grill your burgers until crispy on both sides and serve atop lightly buttered buns along with lettuce leaves, tomato slices and tartar sauce. Yum!

With every bite of these delicious seafood dishes you can celebrate Easter while also enjoying all that life (and cuisine) near the sea has to offer!
